Réunion d’information et de recrutement

Eyes on Europe - le magazine réalisé par les étudiants de l’IEE - organise une réunion de présentation de l’association et de recrutement. Il y a en effet des postes à pourvoir, car quelques responsables vont quitter l’association en juin, à la fin de leurs études. Cette réunion aura lieu le 18 mars 2010 à 18h30 à la Salle Spaak (IEE).

EU Crisis Management and the Lisbon Treaty: the right answer to the right question?

The 3^rd of December 2009, a lecture was organised by Eyes on Europe in collaboration with the Pôle Bernheim d’Etudes sur la Paix et la Citoyenneté.

The conference was the second organized by the IEE (Institut d’Etudes européennes) based student magazine Eyes on Europe, this time in collaboration with the Pôle Bernheim d’Etudes sur la Paix et la Citoyenneté. The director of the Pôle Bernheim, Professor Eric REMACLE, introduced this conference and moderated the debates.

The conference was developed in two parts. In the first part the institutional functioning of EU crisis management was shortly elaborated with focus on changes that the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty would/will bring. Then an introduction to the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy and a definition of EU crisis management and its different aspects (civil and military) was developed. The debate also concerned the consequences of the Lisbon Treaty for EU democracy and for the coherence of EU External Relations. The implications for the institutional functioning of the EU Crisis Management (with new players such as the European External Action Service for example) was discussed as well.

Afterwards the concrete outcomes of EU crisis management was explored: in order to understand them better a case study on the European intervention in Bosnia was presented.

15.10.2009 Thanks to the active involvement of the current Public Relations Director, Miss Corina Vasilescu, we have recently extended our institutional partnerships to western Romania. We are therefore extremely pleased to welcome our two new partner universities, “Universitatea de Vest Vasile Goldis” Arad and “Universitatea Aurel Vlaicu” Arad into a fruitful and long-lasting collaboration. We take this opportunity to express our special thanks to Prof. Dr. Monica Lungu and to Prof. Dr. Vanda Stan for their active support, dedication and help in paving the way for the finalisation of the institutional partnerships. Without them, what can easily be called a milestone in our publication’s trans-European collaboration could not have come to be as swiftly and as smoothly for us. Un buffet riche et varié, mais aucune goutte des boissons psychédéliques, des vêtements traditionnels, un adieu qui s’approche. C’est un instantané du point culminant de l’Université Libre de la Méditerranée (ULM) à Casablanca au Maroc en juillet dernier dont Eyes on Europe et quelques autres étudiants de l’ULB et d’autres universités belges francophones constituaient la délégation belge.
